Description:

Tamoxifen citrate(tamoxifen, abbreviated TCT) is an estrogen competitive antagonist and a nonsteroidal anti estrogen drug. It can compete with estrogen (estradiol), estrogen receptor in breast cancer cells, inhibit the action of estrogen on cancer cells, inhibit the growth and development of tumor cells, and show the anti-cancer effect.

Clinically, tamoxifen citrate is commonly used for the treatment of various types of breast cancer, especially with estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor positive and has low prostate-specific antigen levels in postmenopausal women with breast cancer.

Nolvadex (tamoxifen citrate) is very comparable to Clomid, behaves in the same manner in all tissues, and is a mixed estrogen agonist/antagonist of the same type as Clomid. The two molecules are also very similar in structure. It is not correct that Nolvadex reduces levels of estrogen: Rather, it blocks estrogen from estrogen receptors and, in those tissues where it is an antagonist, causes the receptor to do nothing.

The claim that Nolvadex reduces gains should not be taken too seriously. The fact is that any number of bodybuilders have made excellent gains while using Nolvadex.

The belief that it reduces gains seems to stem from the fact that the scientific literature reports a slight reduction (individuals using anabolic steroids were not studied though) from use of Nolvadex.

Tamoxifen is an antagonist of the estrogen receptor in breast tissue via its active metabolite, hydroxytamoxifen. In other tissues such as the endometrium, it behaves as an agonist, and thus may be characterized as a mixed agonist/antagonist. Steady state plasma concentration requires continuous application of tamoxifen citrate for 3 to 4 weeks, and it also requires continuous administration of N- methyl 3 to 8 weeks. Tamoxifen citrate, like most other metabolites are excreted mainly in faeces, and small amounts of metabolites excreted in urine.
