Trenbolone (Tren) has been regarded by many as one of the strongest and most effective steroids to change your physique quickly. This steroid is part of the 19-nor family of steroids which are characterized by a modification at the 19th position. Like trenbolone, another popular steroid in this 19-nor family is the very popular Nandrolone (Deca Durabolin and NPP), although the real-world actions of these two steroids are very different.

The base trenbolone hormone has a half-life of about 6-8 hours. Although not many bodybuilders use the base hormone. Most athlete are injecting a version of trenbolone that has an ester chain attached to it, and it is not until plasma lipases in the blood stream cleave off the ester chain that trenbolone is free to interact with androgen receptors in muscle cells. The active half-life of the acetate ester version is of about 48 hours, while the enanthate version is about 5-7 days. The Hexahydrobenzylcarbonate (Cyclohexylmethylcarbonate) ester chain being the longest at 8-10 days. Though, due to the lack of scientific consensus, some of these figures can be off by about 10-20%.

I continue to recommend cycles of these types because they work extremely well. They never disappoint. In contrast, cycles of the type often recommended on boards and the like frequently disappoint, or require extended time to provide much result.

There hasn’t been an adverse side effect reason to stop recommending these cycles. With correct combination of steroids, and anti-aromatase use when using larger amounts of aromatizable steroids, side effects at the 1000 mg/week level are usually not problematic for those who are careful with what they are doing.

As for trenbolone, a very small percentage do indeed find it unsuitable for them entirely, but the great majority can use at least 37.5 mg of trenbolone acetate per day, and a large majority have no real problem with 50 mg/day. The most common issue is night sweats, but that’s a harmless price to pay.

When people agree with trenbolone as a suitable choice for later cycles but not the first, this makes no sense as there’s no regard in which previous experience makes a difference. If trenbolone is suitable for an individual, it will be just as suitable in a first cycle as in a later one. Anabolic steroids are not like narcotics: it’s not the case that tolerance must be or is developed.

Why have such fast gains as these higher dose cycles promote, though? Is there really a need for the beginner to make really fast gains, as occurs with such cycles and proper training and nutrition?

Well, a beginner, as with anyone but even moreso, wants to gain some amount. If he can gain an amount he’s thrilled with in a short time, then he’ll be happy with a short cycle. If he gains little in a short period of time, then he won’t be happy with that, and will seek longer cycles.

I would far rather see the beginner use short cycles, no more than 8 weeks and in some instances as little as 2 weeks, and enjoy fast recoveries rather than see him remain on steroids for 12 or 14 weeks, or even longer, trying to eke out results from marginal dosing. There are many reasons for preferring shorter cycles, including better recovery. Short cycles do not work well with marginal dosing.

Fifty milligrams per day of trenbolone acetate is a good dosing for someone on his first cycle or who is as yet less than, say, 20 pounds over his natural limit; while 100 mg/day may be preferred by the more advanced user who has already gained more than this. In a few cases, doses as low as 35 mg/day may be preferred due to to a user having unusual sensitivity to the drug with regard to night sweats or excessive CNS stimulation.

While these may appear to be rather low dosages — and for any other injectable they would be low doses as a sole Class I androgen — trenbolone is about three times more effective per milligram than most injectables at the androgen receptor. Thus, 50mg/day trenbolone, combined with an effective dose of a Class II steroid such as 50mg/day of Dianabol, makes for a highly effective stack despite the total milligram amount per week being modest.

Trenbolone is among the most effective androgens in aiding fat loss. But contrary to some claims, there is no special role of the acetate ester: other esters of trenbolone are equally effective.

Trenbolone is not recommended for sole use in a steroid cycle. It may be almost completely devoid of non-AR-mediated or non-genomic properties, as gains are drastically less with trenbolone alone, regardless of dosage, than when trenbolone is combined with a Class II compound at the same total milligrams per week. Accordingly, it is recommended when using trenbolone to also include a Class II steroid, or testosterone.

Trenbolone is highly suppressive of testosterone production when present in the system even at low levels. Since normal male estrogen levels are provided via aromatization of testosterone, testosterone production is highly suppressed in a trenbolone cycle and estrogen levels fall below normal. This typically yields problems with mood, libido, and/or the joints.

PS: Trenbolone acetate should be injected daily when used. The difference between daily and every other day use is noticeable and significant. This is attributable to the short half-life of the drug.
