What is Tasimelteon?

Tasimelteon is a melatonin receptor agonist. It works by targeting receptors in the brain that control the timing of the sleep-wake cycle. In clinical trials, totally blind individuals with Non-24 who were treated with tasimelteon slept longer during the night. Tasimelteon was also found to decrease the amount of time totally blind individuals with Non-24 slept during the day.

How to use tasimelteon:

Swallow tasimelteon whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing.

After you take tasimelteon, limit your activities to those necessary to prepare for bed.

If you miss a dose of tasimelteon, skip the missed dose. Do not take the dose in the morning or take 2 doses at once.

Important safety information:

you are taking fluvoxamine or rifampin;
